31.7 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 15 to 17 in 2004 (41.5 inEngland)

7.8% of live births weighed less than 2,500 grams in 2002 (7.7 per centin England)

5.6 infant deaths under one week per 1,000 women in 2002 (5.2 inEngland)

Since figures on the teenage pregnancy strategy were first collected in1998, the conception rate in Isle of Wight has dropped by 21.2 percent.

The significant fall occurred between 2002 and 2003 while the strategywas well under way. Figures decreased from 41.6 conceptions per 1,000girls to 33.8 in that period.
