Since figures on the teenage pregnancy strategy were first collected in1998, the conception rate in Sunderland has dropped by 18.7 per cent. Aspokesman from Sunderland Teaching Primary Care Trust said: "Improvingyoung people's educational aspirations, the greater involvement ofparents in discussions on sex and relationships and encouraging a moreresponsible attitude to sex are all key factors in bringing down teenagepregnancies."
