54.7 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 15 to 17 in 1998 (46.6 in England)

- 47.2 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 15 to 17 in 2004 (41.5 inEngland)

- 7.5 of live births weighed less than 2,500 grams in 2002 (7.7 per centin England)

- 5.4 infant deaths under one week per 1,000 women in 2002 (5.2 inEngland)

Since figures on the teenage pregnancy strategy were first collected in1998, the conception rate in Plymouth has dropped by 13.8 per cent. TheHealthcare Commission gives Plymouth Primary Care Trust's work onteenage pregnancy a rating of four out of five. Plymouth's TeenagePregnancy Partnership is focusing its efforts on the five wards with thehighest conception rates in the city.
