Funding watch: Who's getting money and who's giving it - YouthNetto run Northern Ireland lottery scheme

A youth work organisation has been chosen to run a new lottery programme for Northern Ireland that will give children and young people a say in how cash is spent.

YouthNet will work with other youth agencies to deliver the 4mprogramme called The Big Deal. Grants will go to initiatives forchildren and young people aged up to 25 and young people will be able toapply for cash for projects they have designed themselves.

Funding will be targeted at initiatives that encourage children andyoung people to get involved in activities that boost health andwellbeing, help them learn and achieve and contribute to community andfamily life.

Individuals and groups will be able to apply for funding of 500to 2,500 for projects that make a difference to their lives,families and communities.

The Big Deal is one strand of the Young People's Fund in NorthernIreland.
