Funding watch: Who's getting money and who's giving it - Communityrelations in Northern Ireland

Groups that work to build better community relations between children and young people in Northern Ireland can apply for a share of more than 1m.

The money, announced by children's minister Maria Eagle last week, isfor activities that allow young people from different backgrounds to mixand learn more about religious, cultural and political diversity in theprovince.

The cash is aimed at voluntary and not-for-profit organisations that runcross-community projects for children and young people aged three to 25.Funding is available for 2007 to 2008. More funding should be announcedfor the following two years after a government-wide spending review.

"It is particularly important that the money goes directly toorganisations working on the ground with young people," said Eagle.
