The three-year Community Investment Fund is aimed at organisations thatsupport or co-ordinate services provided by smaller communitygroups.
It will award grants of 50,000 to 80,000 per year for corecosts such as staff salaries.
There are six key criteria for funding. Crucially, organisationsapplying must show how their work will tackle social exclusion bytargeting some of the most vulnerable groups including children, loneparents, families with disabled children and young parents. And theymust demonstrate how they will build better relationships withincommunities.
The fund was created after a major investigation into the way thecommunity and voluntary sector is funded identified a need forgovernment to take a longer-term and more strategic approach.
