Each local authority area will get a slice of the fund, which is aimedat projects for 11- to 25-year-olds.
Groups can apply for grants ranging from 5,000 to 1mspread over one to four years.
Applications will first be assessed at a central office before beingpassed on to one of 32 local panels made up of young people. This is achance for young people to decide whether schemes fit in with localpriorities, said a spokeswoman for Big Lottery Fund Scotland.
Plans will then go to the 10-strong Young People's Fund committee, whichhas five young members, for a final decision. Applications should beprocessed within 16 weeks and the first grants will be made by the endof the year.
