Youthbank UK will administer England's Grants to Organisations strand and one of its key responsibilities will be to ensure young people are involved in regional grant-making panels.
This will build on the experience of those involved in local Youthbanks across the country, which appoint a board of young people to distribute small grants to local projects working with children and young people.
Young people aged 13 to 25 have already taken up places on nine regional panels that will meet every six weeks to allocate cash.
The panels are made up of young people, and adults from the voluntary and community sector, youth work, public sector and the Big Lottery Fund. Applications are made via the Big Lottery Fund offices and are assessed by grant officers before being looked at by the panels, which decide who gets funded.
