The three-year programme is designed to fund studies that voluntary andcommunity sector organisations regard as important. The money will alsohelp disseminate research findings and work based on the studies.
A spokeswoman for the Big Lottery Fund said the programme aimed to"influence local and national policy and practice by funding theproduction and dissemination of evidence-based knowledge".
The Big Lottery Fund is currently looking to appoint an organisation orconsortium to manage the UK-wide funding programme. Organisationsinterested in this role need to apply by 21 July.
Money from the fund will start being distributed next year. The deadlinefor funding applications will be announced later this year but it shouldbe in the Spring of 2007. The first grants should reach organisations byearly 2008.
