Childcare Greater Easterhouse, a local partnership that supports thedevelopment of childcare, launched the scheme after it was awarded an80,000 lottery grant. The development manager Colin Agnew saidthe partnership had found there were many families who weren't ready orable to access mainstream funding for childcare based around going intotraining and education or getting a job.
The new fund will also help families whose children have special needsor provide short-term childcare when there is a family crisis.
Agnew said the partnership would work closely with local organisationsthat offer a range of support to vulnerable families to identify thosewho might benefit. "It will mean people aren't missing out on the helpthey need because they can't find childcare," he said.
