Funding watch: Who's getting money and who's giving it -Association launches to help fund seekers

An association that aims to make it easier for voluntary and community organisations in the capital to get funding has been launched.

London Funders is offering support to organisations that make grants tothe community and voluntary sector. "The organisation's objectives areto lessen bureaucracy and prevent duplication among funders," said aspokeswoman.

Funding is often a key concern for groups within the sector, includingthose delivering childcare, play and other children's services, so theassociation will also be working with funded organisations.

The association, which has grown out of an informal body known as theLondon Funders Group, is supported by the London Development Agency.Members include the Bridge House Trust, Big Lottery Fund, The Royal Bankof Scotland and the Association of London Government.

It will be establishing a series of project groups, including one onissues related to the 2012 Olympics.
