Funding watch: Who's getting money and who's giving it - Fundingmerge creates grants

Voluntary groups working with children, young people and families can now submit bids to a new grants programme, which brings together five funding streams.

The Children, Young People and Families Grant Programme went live lastweek with 20m available in its first funding round.

It brings together the Children and Young People's Participation Fund,the National Voluntary Youth Organisations Grant Scheme, SafeguardingChildren and Support Families grants, the Strengthening Families Grantand the Sure Start Voluntary and Community Sector Grant.

The Department for Education and Skills has merged the funds in a bid tocut bureaucracy and take a more strategic approach to funding.

Two types of funding are available for work around the five Every ChildMatters outcomes with the majority of cash to be allocated in the formof strategic grants for projects of national significance.
