Funding Watch: Who's getting money and who's giving it - Help Yourselves' second round

1 min read
Nearly 7,000 was shared between eight projects as a result of Save the Children's Help Yourselves grants scheme. And more than double that amount is expected to be available in the second grants round, which is now open for bids.

Among the the first-round beneficiaries is a newsletter about young bands in Wales and a project that trains older schoolchildren to be "playground buddies".

The first tranche included 1,000 for youth empowerment group Cityzen, which will use the cash to encourage Hackney primary pupils to set up school councils, and train older children to look out for younger pupils who feel left out.

A grant of 1,000 will go to art and music organisation Dragon Bands, based in Pontypool, Wales, to establish a newsletter for young music fans.

And more than 900 will go to a participation forum in St Helen's, Merseyside, to ensure young people can contribute to the development of services in the area.
