Funding Watch: Who's getting money and who's giving it - BigLottery Fund awards for research announced

The British Association for Adoption & Fostering has been awarded more than 70,000 for new research on long-term foster care.

The award is one of 20 to be made from the Big Lottery Fund's researchprogramme announced last week. The association will use the cash toproduce new guidance on long-term fostering.

It will work with Dr Gillian Schofield at the University of East Angliato look at how agencies plan and support long-term fosterplacements.

And there will be consultation with practitioners and carers.

"We're delighted to receive this funding, which will help us to ensuremore looked-after children are able to experience stable family life,"said fostering development consultant Andrea Warman.

Other grants include more than 460,000 for the National AutisticSociety to study the impact of diagnosing autistic children early. TheMultiple Births Foundation will get more than 140,000 to developguidelines on feeding twins and triplets.
