Seven large organisations have been awarded a share of 400,000 as part of the 1m, to help smaller grass-roots groups get to grips with developing skills across: media and communications; building local partnerships; raising private finance; engaging hard-to-reach groups; and developing taster and full-time volunteering programmes.
Volunteering England, UK Youth and The Media Trust will deliver individual projects. Business in the Community and Business Community Connections will be teaming up to deliver projects, as will Community Service Volunteers and conservation charity BTCV.
In addition, 21 organisations have been given grants of between 6,000 and 24,000, also part of the 1m, to develop best practice in youth volunteering over the next few months. A further 24 will receive between 3,000 and 24,000 to develop strategies to attract young people into volunteering. The 45 small grants total 600,000.
