The announcement by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) yesterday (Monday 2 June) will see £132.5 million invested in services, facilities and opportunities to give disadvantaged young people the skills and resources they need to thrive.
The figure is £30mn more than was announced in November 2024 by Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy when she initially unveiled plans for the Dormant Assets Scheme Strategy.
Leaders of youth organisations said the extra funding would help strengthen support for young people.
Leigh Middleton, chief executive of the National Youth Agency, said: “This is a pivotal moment in strengthening the support available to young people. This Dormant Assets funding offers a real chance to reinforce the stability and extend the reach of grassroots youth work, at a time when that support is needed more than ever.”
