The 'Respect your life, not a knife' campaign asks young people to sign a pledge that they will not carry weapons, especially a knife.
The money was part of an 800,000 funding stream announced by outgoing Home Secretary John Reid last week to combat crime and gang culture.
A round-table with community groups was also held at the Home Office last week. The meeting was attended by the Peace Alliance and the Boyhood to Manhood Foundation, among others.
"We have always recognised that tough laws have to be complemented by support for community groups at the front line of the effort to tackle crime," said Reid. "That is why today's round-table has been so valuable."
