Samaritans has secured funding from the Lloyd's Charities Trust to launch Skills for Life, a project that offers schools a pack to use in the aftermath of a suicide or attempted suicide.

A New Deal for Communities scheme for young advisers has received £150,000 to train up to 100 young people. The advisers will have a say in local policy in their areas.

Doncaster Community Arts has opened its new £1.2m centre. Money for the project came from Futurebuilders England andthe Learning and Skills Council. Thecentre will run a range of projects foryoung people.

A new consortium of five charities, including The Children's Society, is to benefit from payroll giving. Employees will donate to Charities for Change and profits will be split between the five organisations.
