Work Wise: Funding briefs

The Big Lottery Fund has awarded the It's Your Choice project 113,880 to provide advice for young people making the transition from primary to secondary school in Scotland. The scheme offers information on alcohol, tobacco and drugs. www.biglotteryfund.org.uk

Homeless young people in east London are to benefit from a new building containing 116 flats with help from the Jack Petchey Foundation. The foundation has awarded £150,000 to the accommodation provider East Potential to build the Jack Petchey Foyer building, due to open in autumn 2008. www.jackpetcheyfoundation.org.uk

Working with Men, a project run by Edinburgh City Council's children and families department, has received a Big Lottery Fund grant of £400,000 to launch an initiative to tackle domestic violence through working with abusive men.
