The Croydon school, which has invested 3m in developing closer links with the community via an extended schools prog-ramme, will be running the club using school facilities.
There will be a chill-out zone in a screened-off section of the cafeteria and a homework zone in the library. Activities will be run using the school's resources in sports, arts and drama, in conjunction with the community.

"We wanted to set up the chill-out zone in the youth club down the road, but we haven't found the youth service helpful," said Troake. "We were told it was busy 24/7. But once we set up, the local steering committee for the youth club was up in arms since it felt it would have been a tremendous addition."
