YOUTH CLUBS: Make Space network to go nationwide

1 min read

The clubs, called Make Space, will be open until 9pm after school for 11 to 16-year-olds.

Facilities will include access to three spaces: a chill out zone, a homework/quiet zone and an activity space. South London and Leeds will be the first areas to get the clubs, with up to 3,000 clubs to be set up nationwide.

Harris Beider, campaign director for Make Space, said: "There are gaps in provision of youth clubs in disadvantaged areas of the country." The clubs will be staffed by one youth worker for every 10 children, with one paid member and the rest volunteers. Parents and teachers will be encouraged to apply for the roles.
