According to our research, 80 per cent of young people say there isnothing for them to do locally, and 70 per cent cited a lack of thingsto do as the reason teenagers drift into crime.
We believe young people need safe places to meet their friends afterschool and in the evenings, and that provision should be based onconsultation with young people themselves.
Make Space clubs provide interesting and stimulating environments tomeet the needs of teenagers, offering access to a range of activitiesand opportunities as well as signposting them to information, advice andguidance.
Make Space, run by 4Children and funded by the Nestle Trust, aims toestablish a network of this type of provision across England and willcontinue to lobby for investment to develop clubs, transform existingprovision and provide ongoing support for local authorities.
