An interim report by education watchdog Estyn said the Welsh AssemblyGovernment gave schools too little notice about the launch of the Raisescheme. As a result few of the projects set up by individual schoolswere deemed innovative by inspectors.
Despite this inspectors said the projects were useful and are showingearly signs of having a positive effect. But they warned many schoolshad not done enough planning to ensure the benefits of the work willcontinue after the funding ends in March 2008. "Most pupils areresponding positively to the opportunities," said Susan Lewis, the chiefinspector of education in Wales.
