Disability: Ministers commit to more money

The Government has given the first indication it intends to commit money to disabled children's services in the Comprehensive Spending Review.

Speaking at a meeting of MPs on how Every Child Matters is deliveringfor disabled children, schools minister Lord Andrew Adonis said theGovernment had recognised it needed to commit more resources.

Campaigners seized on the comments as an admission that the Governmentintends to spend more on disabled children's services.

Francine Bates, chief executive of Contact a Family, said: "This year'sspending round is a tight one so it is very encouraging to hear LordAdonis recommending this."
