I am hoping to join the Army soon. A mate of mine was serving in the Czech Republic when he died in a helicopter crash and I wanted to join up in tribute to him.

My dad was also in the tank regiment and he told me wonderful stories about places like Germany.

The trouble is I was excluded from school before I could do my exams. Nobody seemed to want to know me then, but I heard about the Open Doors project run by Rathbone and went down there.

They sat me down and together we planned my future. Since then, I've been on work experience and passed my exams. I should be doing my basic training with the Army soon and living away from home, it doesn't bother me though.

Open Doors is a great opportunity for kids who have chosen the wrong path in life - but it's up to you to make sure you take that chance. I did and could be about to live my dream.
