It's really tough to get a job in Oldham - especially if you're young and male.

I’ve put in for 60 and only ever got two replies. I gave my CV out to lots of places and when I ring the Job Centre about a job, it’s gone five minutes later.

Sometimes people don’t understand how hard it is and once you’ve got a job, keeping it is difficult too. I’ve had to rely on lifts to get me to work miles away.

But my message is: never give in. Even if you get 100 rejections, carry on.

My hero is Wayne Rooney and he always gives 100 per cent. I met him once when I was at a boarding school in Cheshire and I was shocked because he spoke to me, asked me where I was from and what I was doing.
