Computer generated images, cartoons and drawings would all be covered bythe proposed law.
The Home Office says it is concerned that such images will encouragepaedophiles to abuse children in real life and that they may be used to"groom" children.
Currently the police cannot prosecute those who possess such imagery, nor confiscate it. The Government is proposing a maximum of three yearsin prison and an unlimited fine for possession of these kind ofimages.
