The development workers, all of whom are under 25, are based in the organisation's six revamped young people's centres, which provide core Connexions services alongside a range of other provision (YPN, 3-9 May 2006, p4).
They are helping the organisation change the culture of the centres to attract more young people. Their tasks include assessing the quality of the information, advice and guidance that young people receive.
The two-year posts enable the young people to complete an NVQ level 3 in advice and guidance, as well as a local youth work qualification.
They are among a range of entry-level employment opportunities for under-25-year-olds to work with young people, offered by North Yorkshire Children and Young People's Service, in partnership with Connexions and other organisations.
