Connexions: Yorkshire centres to expand services to include under-25s

1 min read

The new young people's centres are rolling out across the area as Connexions York & North Yorkshire's response to Youth Matters.

Barry Hitchens, chief executive of the Connexions partnership, said: "These young people's centres fit into Youth Matters, because they will become part of the youth offer in 2008 for the city of York and North Yorkshire. We've visited one or two places, but we've not seen any that are anywhere near as integrated as we're trying to get."

The partnership runs services under contract in towns including York, Harrogate, Skipton and Northallerton, as well as in voluntary organisations.

The centre in Harrogate has rebranded as TRAX@Connexions; Skipton has changed to HQ@Connexions. A similar transformation is under way at the Selby Connexions centre, due for completion at the end of May. Northallerton's centre is due for completion in the autumn and York's centre will be transformed by October.
