The board of the National Association of Connexions Partners (NACP) is concerned that the company will no longer be viable once funding for advice and guidance services transfers to local authorities in April. However, it is keen to ensure some form of support continues for Connexions services.
Roger Little, executive director of NACP, said: "There are some areas of expertise that are fundamental to existing and developing government policy. We need to make sure we network those skills and knowledge and are talking to a number of partners about how to take that forward."
Funding allocations for the Connexions grant over the next three years were published last week. Overall, there is a slight increase of £2m for 2008/09 to £459m, but the grant for 2009/11 is static at £457m a year.
