
For 2008/09 the Connexions Grant has been increased by £2m, to £459m, but for 2009/10 and 2010/11 it is set at £457m a year.
The money will be paid to local education authorities, rather than Connexions partnerships, and will not be ring fenced.
Roger Little, the executive director of the National Association of Connexions Partners, said: “In some areas there will be not insignificant reductions in funding going into advice and guidance services.
“It remains to be seen to what extent reductions in budget can be made good by efficiency savings.”
Little added that the grant allocations should be looked at in the context of spending across youth services: “What I don’t know is what is happening across the piece.”
