Trust takes over advice services in south London

1 min read Youth Work
Advice and guidance services for young people in south London are to be delivered by an educational trust from April next year.

CfBT Education Trust has won the contract to deliver services in the six London boroughs currently served by Connexions South London.

The trust already delivers services in Richmond, but will now also work in Bromley, Croydon, Kingston, Merton and Sutton.

Funding for advice and guidance services is transferring from Connexions partnerships to local authorities at the end of March 2008.

The funding that currently goes to Connexions South London will now pass through Kingston council, which is acting on behalf of the other boroughs to commission these services across the area.

Kingston has contracted Connexions South London to arrange advice and guidance services. Connexions South London has, in turn, contracted CfBT to deliver these services.

The Connexions body will retain a small group of core staff responsible for administering the contract, but the majority of its 190 personal advisers are likely to transfer to CfBT.

A spokeswoman for the Connexions partnership said negotiations on this subject are ongoing.
