Connexions body to help young ride out crunch

1 min read Youth Work
The new membership body for Connexions staff will lobby on behalf of young people affected by the credit crunch, the joint chair of the organisation has pledged.

Steve Hoy, chief executive of Connexions Cheshire and Warrington, who will lead the body with Andrew Simmons, chief executive of Connexions Hertfordshire, said the organisation would "support young people in these challenging times".

He told CYP Now that the body would be called the National Connexions Network, not the Connexions Alliance, the name that was mooted last year.

"The network will support young people around the economy and around the new advent of opportunities for young people, such as the diploma," he said.

The network will also focus on developing the careers of its members. "We will support staff to develop as a workforce and get them the recognition they deserve," said Hoy.
