Childcare & Early Years: Childminders get director for Wales

1 min read Early Years
The National Childminding Association has appointed a director in Wales for the first time.

Catrin Fletcher, who was working for hearing disabilities charity RNID, will now head the association's work in Wales. Her post replaces the association's old regional manager for Wales position.

Liz Bayram, chief executive of the association, said: "The continued growth of a strong operational presence in Wales is central to our plans. Catrin's leadership will help us to strengthen relationships with key agencies."

A large part of Fletcher's remit will be to help with the implementation of the Foundation Phase, the Welsh equivalent of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Pilots are currently running in 41 schools and settings across Wales, and the Foundation Phase will be in place by the end of the 2010/11 school year.
