Childminders welcome Welsh report

Early Years
The National Childminding Association has welcomed a report from the Welsh children's service inspectorate that the number of childminders in Wales is rising.

The Care and Social Standards Inspectorate for Wales (CSSIW) Annual Report 2007/2008 also found that childminders' level of training had risen. All childminding premises were deemed suitable in terms of the facilities, equipment and environment available to children.

Catrin Fletcher, director for NCMA Wales, said: "This report shows childminders' commitment to continuing professional development. It is very encouraging that registered childminders are able to adapt, with 80 per cent adopting the new requirement to review the quality of care they provide each year."
