Claire ponders why more young people don't get to speak at events.

We recently ran a conference during half-term. The aim was to bringyoung people and managers together to discuss openly and listen to eachother on how to improve care under our forthcoming children's truststructures.

We had worked with some young people so they could co-chair theconference with heads of service. Coaching the young people inpresentation skills was a piece of cake - working with the managers wasanother story.

As well as having young people involved in presentations, we also heldsome workshops on issues such as information sharing and placementchoice.

I was having kittens ensuring everyone was ready to go, that thecomputer presentations were all working and that everyone had preparedtheir briefings and felt confident.
