I am a weekend fishing widow. Every Saturday morning my partner packs uphis kit and heads off, sometimes alone, often with his son. Whatever thepolitics of fishing, it does seem to offer bonding opportunities.
I've never understood it. Who would want to spend hours in the freezingcold, catch a fish - and then put it back? Bizarre stuff. And some dressin weird camouflage clothing, 'cos apparently then the fish won't seethem. Personally I've always thought it a bit Rambo-ish.
And I've always thought of it as a male-orientated sport. I onlyaccompanied Captain Cod once, and got told off for jumping around at thelakeside (to stave off the cold), and scaring the fish off. Neveragain.
