Foster Care Fortnight is upon us once again, and this year the theme isFostering Brighter Futures. What's nice about this year's campaign isthat as well as being focused on recruiting more foster carers (we'restill 10,000 short), it is being used as an opportunity to celebrate theachievements of children and young people and the carers who havesupported them.
This is great because the only recognition they ever seem to get is anannual educational awards event, like that's the only thing about themworth celebrating. The focus always seems to be on the negative stufflike behaviour, poor health and crime. We know that with the rightsupport and encouragement young people in care can achieve theirpotential just like any other teenager.
