Food glorious food. I've no idea where that expression came from, but I wouldn't be that surprised if you told me it was coined by a youth worker from the Midlands. At youth groups across the country, cooking is now huge. Especially as we approach the height of the barbecue season.

Forget your pool and table tennis. Pack away your PlayStation 2. Cooking is where it's really at.

And the reason is pretty simple. Young people like cooking because they can eat the end product. And youth workers love it because it's easy to link cooking with 101 different learning outcomes. Independent living, budgeting skills or healthy eating. You name it. Cooking covers it.
