Back Page: And this is what I do - Police Constable Kevin Gargini, youth affairs officer, Surrey Police

What do you like best about your role? I've been doing this for two-and-a-half years and was attracted to it because it sounded interesting and varied and it could be very rewarding. For example, a lot of young people on antisocial behaviour contracts have been excluded and we've got them back into school.

And what frustrates you? I sometimes find it upsetting to see young people follow in their parents' footsteps by getting into trouble. I also find it difficult that there are about 30 schools in the borough and many more clubs, so it's hard to spend time at all of them. Obtaining funding for some projects can be a struggle; you end up writing report after report trying to justify it.
