What does your role involve? I manage a team of five staff, and have the task of making sure that children and young people are central to the work of the commissioner's office. In the first year, I've developed a participation strategy that we have to present to the Scottish Parliament.
My job is really varied. Sometimes, it's office based; at other times, it involves public speaking and meeting up with groups of children and young people. I am very lucky, as I really enjoy my job.
What aspect do you enjoy most? I like that I can set up a structure from scratch for involving young people and I've been given a lot of control in planning. I meet a lot of interesting people from around the UK. I'm never bored because it's very challenging.
