Back Page: And this is what I do - Andrea Prout, police officer

1 min read

What do you do in the trust? I'm part of a multidisciplinary co-located team working on early intervention and prevention for young people up to 19 and their families. That means we're all based in the same office.

I act as a link between the police and children's services, using the common assessment framework to make an assessment of the child or family and put a plan in place to remedy whatever issues there are.

What kind of referrals do you get? A lot of the referrals coming to me will come from other police officers in the district. But as a team we have a single referral process, so I can take referrals from a number of agencies. They may refer on young people who are being stopped frequently for antisocial behaviour problems. They might identify a young person who may be coming to a point where they're unable to say no to their peers and are getting involved in antisocial behaviour.
