Funding issues are the dominant part of my job, with other staff looking after the activation of the other points. I'm part of the council's senior management team and I often find myself used as a funding reference for people who are unsure of their funding potential. My remit also includes implementing geographical information systems, which can have huge potential as a management tool.
Who's in your meetings? It's essential that I keep up to date with events in voluntary youth work and in funding. Many of my meetings will be one-to-ones with directors in these areas. Frequently, I meet with other statutory bodies, particularly Department of Education officials. Many of the out-of-hours meetings are pleasant and positive - they are usually presentations and awards.
