Arts: Government to establish cultural hubs in England

1 min read

From September, each cultural hub will receive 500,000 a year from the Arts Council England. The pilot projects will initially run for three years, but the aim is to expand the programme to cover the whole of England.

In a statement to accompany the launch of the initiative, Estelle Morris, minister for the arts, said: "I'm convinced the hubs will offer an innovative way of delivering high-quality activities that will fire young people's interest and enthusiasm."

The areas selected for the projects are Durham, Bournemouth and Poole, and Telford. Cultural organisations in each area will work with schools to plan and deliver a range of activities for young people across the region.
