The union's National Careers and Connexions Services Committee is writing to Anne Weinstock, director of the department's Supporting Children and Young People Group, about the "growing unease" felt by staff at the "sense of drift" across Connexions. It warns of the danger of services becoming "lost or splintering" without firmer direction from the Department for Education and Skills (DfES).
Jon Richards, senior national officer for Unison's education workforce unit, said the union would fight any redundancies arising from the transition.
"There's nervousness among administration staff that authorities will seek to pick up frontline workers and drop admin staff," he said. "If admin staff are not around, the personal advisers will have to do the work."
