Ofsted inspectors praised Reading council's children's services for implementing changes quickly following a critical joint area review in January.
The report highlighted good quality assurance systems and commended the council for the fact that children's views are taken into account when new services are designed.
Inspectors also said front line social workers have manageable caseloads and are supervised and supported well by "competent managers".
The report said: "The speed and effectiveness of the remedial change implemented by managers since the Joint Area Review have led to greatly improved front line services for children and families."
The report did not single out any "areas for priority action". Areas identified in the as in need of development at the council include protocols with the police about communicating instances of domestic abuse and delays to completing assessments of children referred to the service.
