Sure Start Rosehill Children's Centre is built on a site that was oncehome to a plumbers' merchant. So, for private consultant Derek TrowellArchitects, the main challenge was to develop plans that would fit thesmall and awkward triangular space.
Consulting local parents and children was key. The team gathered viewsat Sure Start sessions, while playworkers discovered children's opinionsthrough fun activities.
Atkins, the company that assesses children's centre plans for theGovernment, praised the design, which has received an award from DerbyCity Partnership.
