After-school dance sessions culminating in a showcase proved a hit withchildren from Loughborough. A partnership between an extended schoolscluster and private dance and sports programme provider In 2 Sports sawthe company work closely with the extended schools co-ordinator to shapethe programme.
The scheme was funded by the cluster, with one infant and four primaryschools and about 70 Key Stage 1 to 3 pupils taking part. The final showin July was attended by 180 parents and guests and raised 100 fora local special school.
Having something to work towards was important, says Jevon Payne,director of In 2 Sports. "It really did light up the young people," hesays. He adds that the concept could be applied to any sports activityand build up to a tournament.
