"Access to services and transport is a major problem here in the EastRiding of Yorkshire," says Sally Richardson, extended schoolsco-ordinator for Hornsea School and Language College. This means schoolsface extra challenges when setting up after-school activities.
Hornsea School's solution was to lay on an extra "Twilight Bus" service,a project commended in the 2006 Schools ETC Awards run by ContinYou.
The school tested the idea last year working with Holderness Area RuralTransport (Hart) to ferry pupils to and from hockey training.
It then gained a 7,000 grant. The cash came from Mi Town, whichis managed by Humber and Wolds Rural Community Council and supported byYorkshire Forward and Leader+.
