Goal: To give children and teachers new art and IT skills
Contact: www.digitalartscluster.org.uk
Schoolchildren have been introduced to the latest computer animation techniques thanks to an innovative digital arts project in Halton.
Ten primary and infant schools, which work together under Halton's Small Schools Arts Cluster, branched out into digital art with the help of a trio of regional artists. The schools pooled resources to fund the project, which was backed by extended schools cash and some grant funding.
The 18-month initiative involved out-of-school workshops and linked in with the curriculum.
Schools worked on different projects, which included creating "light sculptures", virtual models and tours of buildings and "digital mosaics" using sound and photos. They also made a DVD, which will be shared with others.
